Academic Policy for Applicants of the Department
The page contains the main documents regulating the academic process for applicants of all levels — from attendance to academic integrity.
AI – Academic Integrity
The PST Department adheres to the principles of academic integrity enshrined in the Regulation on the System of Ensuring Academic Integrity of the KNU. Basic principles:
- Self-execution of written work without plagiarism
- Correct citation of other people's works with references to the source
- Honest behavior during control measures
- Prohibition of writing off, ordering works from third parties
- Prohibition to pass off AI-generated text as your own without explicit indication
Verification of works for plagiarism is carried out by means of Unicheck and StrikePlagiarism. The threshold of originality for qualification works is at least 70%.
Daily Attendance
Attendance at lecture, practical and laboratory classes is mandatory. In case of a pass, the applicant must:
- Up to 20% of classes — without additional measures, with independent processing of the material
- 20–40% of classes — work out passes by agreement with the teacher
- More than 40% — non-admission to the final control, possible deduction
For absences for valid reasons (illness, business trip, participation in conferences), a certificate from the dean's office is required.
Re-assignment and retraining
In case of academic debt (unsatisfactory assessment or failure to attend the control event without a valid reason), the applicant has the right to:
- Re-take exam/test before the end of the session — free of charge (one re-take)
- Re-translate — with payment according to the tariff of KNU
- Based on the results of re-training — a decision on admission to the next semester or re-training of the discipline
The right to academic leave
The applicant has the right to take academic leave in the following cases:
- Long-term illness (according to medical opinion)
- Family Circumstances
- Participation in international educational programs
- Participation in hostilities (for military personnel)
The duration of academic leave is usually up to 1 year, with the possibility of extension. Documents are submitted to the dean's office of fit.

Transfer between educational programs or from other higher education institutions is possible if there are vacancies and based on the results of the academic difference. The application is submitted during the holiday period.

Applicants' right to academic mobility
Academic mobility is one of the priority areas of the department. Mobility provides the opportunity for applicants to study, undergo internships, conduct educational / scientific activities in an institution located in Ukraine or abroad.
