We don't just teach programming or use artificial intelligence in programming — we build a mathematically proven infrastructure.
На кафедрі діє наукова школа «Математична теорія інтелекту» (МТІ), де інтелект досліджують як формальний математичний об’єкт: (PN)-моделі, розв’язання 11 із 12 парадоксів теорії доказів Демпстера-Шейфера, застосування до архітектури автономних систем і роїв БПЛА. Наші студенти долучаються до цих досліджень ще під час навчання — від курсових і дипломних робіт до реальних проєктів кафедри.

Accredited programs at all levels

Object-oriented programming from the first year
We were among the first in Ukraine to teach object-oriented programming already in the first year of undergraduate studies — students think in modern engineering categories from the very beginning.
Automated task validation
We use automated verification tools not only in programming disciplines, but also in mathematics — this increases the objectivity of assessment and gives students instant feedback.
Own all-Ukrainian competitions
The department introduced the All-Ukrainian Olympiad and the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works on «Programming and management of IT projects» — and itself forms the bar of quality in the industry.
Winning students
Our students regularly win all-Ukrainian Olympiads and competitions of scientific works. Thus, the first-year student Vitalii Myroslavovych Foyak became the winner of the second stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad «Open Individual Championship of Lviv University in Programming — LNU Open 2026».
Real projects of the department
Students participate in research and applied projects of the department — from intelligent autonomous systems and UAV swarms to medical intelligent systems, working on tasks of practical value.
Erasmus+ and international partners
Academic mobility under the Erasmus+ programme and cooperation with universities in Poland, Bulgaria and Portugal, as well as with IT companies — some of which open the way for students to international experience.
